In another interview, Ado highlighted the song’s aggressive sound and dark, piercing melody, which played to her natural vocal strengths. “I felt like I was able to deeply immerse myself in the role of Uta.”

“Backlight” has been commercially successful—earning a Double Platinum certification in streaming by the RIAJ in April 2023, and amassing over 100 million streams on BILLBOARD JAPAN charts.

“Fleeting Lullaby” blends jazz, kayōkyoku, and hip-hop in a unique composition. Ado shared that it was the first time she took on the challenge of a full-scale rap.

In addition to the complex rap sections, the song’s sudden shifts and intense pace made it even more demanding to perform. “It’s a song that plummets and stops like a rollercoaster, like a runaway train,” she noted in an interview.

Like other above mentioned Ado anime songs from ONE PIECE, “Fleeting Lullaby” has been highly successful. It earned a Platinum certification in Streaming (RIAJ) in April 2023 and also surpassed 100 million streams on BILLBOARD JAPAN charts.

Ado described “Tot Musica” as a grand and terrifying piece, emphasizing its dramatic and versatile nature. “As expected, you can’t go wrong entrusting this kind of song to Hiroyuki Sawano,” she remarked in an interview.

While singing, Ado aimed to convey the powerful and inhuman presence created by Uta, enhancing the song’s spell-like quality with lyrics written in runes, an early Germanic alphabet system (Ado comments that this was a once-in-a-lifetime singing experience.)

The World’s Continuation – From ONE PIECE FILM RED

“The World’s Continuation” (世界のつづき, Sekai no Tsuzuki) is the fifth insert song from ONE PIECE FILM RED. Released on August 10, 2022, as part of the soundtrack album, This Ado anime song was written by the Japanese singer-songwriter, Yuta Orisaka.

“The World’s Continuation” stands out for its pure and gentle tone, which made it the most difficult song for Ado to sing on the soundtrack. “I felt like a monster who doesn’t understand kindness,” she admitted in an interview, with a laugh.

To Ado, “The World’s Continuation” felt like it was sung by a girl who was gently remembering her childhood memories. Originally demoed by Orisaka, this ballad expressed a different kind of strength. “It’s a rare song for Ado to sing,” she explained.

Where the Wind Blows – From ONE PIECE FILM RED

Uta’s journey deeply influenced Hata’s songwriting approach. “I wrote this song with the image of Uta’s pain, her struggles, and her determination to move forward despite it all,” he explained in his comment on the song.

“Where the Wind Blows” elegantly concludes the film with a gentle and hopeful message. As Ado notes in an interview, “Uta carries many strengths, and this song makes you think that she really is a girl like the wind.”
