All SiM Anime Songs
RED – From Kengan Ashura
“RED” is the first opening theme for Season 2 of Kengan Ashura. This SiM anime song was released on September 27, 2023.
In the band’s official comment, MAH shared the meaning behind “RED”, which is rooted in the idea that “the color of our flowing blood is the same ‘red.’”
While human differences are natural, this song conveys a deeper message. As MAH explains, “Rather than forcibly accepting or imposing [these differences]…we should first face ourselves.”
UNDER THE TREE – From Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters Special 1
“UNDER THE TREE” is the ending theme for Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters Special 1, the first of two TV specials concluding the series’ fourth and final season. This SiM anime song was released digitally on March 4, 2023.
While their hit opener “The Rumbling” embodies a destructive, earthquake-like force, this anime ending carries a different perspective. As MAH shares in their official comment, “‘UNDER THE TREE’ is Mikasa’s song,”
Though initially uncertain of the reaction it would provoke, being entrusted with the ending theme for this final stage is an honor that MAH calls “the answer” to their work on the series.
The Rumbling – From Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2
“The Rumbling” is the opening theme for Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2. The TV version was released on January 10, 2022, followed by the full version on February 7, 2022.
In his official comment, MAH shared the honor and challenge of creating music for an anime with such an established musical legacy. He commented that Attack on Titan is “a work that already has a complete worldview,” along with a lineage of iconic songs.
With “The Rumbling,” SiM sought to honor this tradition and bring a fresh perspective. “With the utmost love and respect… I think we were able to present a new world with an approach unique to SiM.”
“The Rumbling” gained international acclaim, reaching #1 on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. It remains a long-running global hit, consistently ranking as one of the most-streamed Japanese songs in the U.S. and U.K., years after its release.
LET iT END – From Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul
“LET iT END” is the opening theme for Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul, the series’ second season. This SiM anime song was released digitally on April 26, 2017.
In an interview, SiM’s vocalist MAH revealed that the band had the creative freedom to see “how far we could experiment and how aggressive we could go.”
“LET iT END” naturally evolved into an introspective piece. Although the lyrics are outward-facing, this track helped MAH face his ongoing battle with “self-control and self-discipline.”
EXiSTENCE – From Rage of Bahamut: Genesis
“EXiSTENCE” is the opening theme for Rage of Bahamut: Genesis, the first season of the epic fantasy anime series. Pre-released digitally on November 12, 2014, this song marks SiM’s first collaboration with an anime.
In his official comment, MAH expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity. He carefully crafted the song and lyrics within the show’s worldview, so that they would “not bring shame to the name” of Rage of Bahamut.
MAH shares that he wrote the song “Imagining the feelings of a certain character.” He encourages fans to speculate on whom the lyrics might represent.
