Who is The Charm Park?

The Charm Park is a singer-songwriter currently based in Tokyo, Japan. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Charm’s family moved to Los Angeles, California when he was eight years old.

Early beginnings

Growing up in L.A.’s vibrant music and multicultural scene, Charm developed a deep admiration for Japanese music and culture, which played a significant role in shaping his artistic identity.

Inspired by some of his favorite musicians from the Berklee College of Music, Charm moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend university. After graduation, he returned to Los Angeles to work in the music industry. However, his interest and potential in the Japanese music scene grew, and he moved to Tokyo to start his music career.

The Journey in Japan

In Tokyo, Charm began his musical journey in a Japanese rock band called Hemenway, created with his old classmates at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. The band had their major label debut and performed for several years before disbanding in 2014. Following this, Charm pursued his solo career, leading to the start of The Charm Park.

The Charm Park started his solo career with two successful EPs: A Letter (2015) and A Reply (2016). Despite his newcomer status, both EPs received recognition from various music sources, including Tower Records and Apple Music, catching the attention of early listeners and growing his fanbase at the start of his solo endeavors.

In 2018, he signed with a record label under Avex Entertainment Inc. and released his 1st full major debut album, Timeless Imperfections. The lead song, “Imperfection,” climbed the charts and achieved top positions on the radio airplay comprehensive chart.

In November 2023, The Charm Park released his second full major debut album, The Charm Park II.
