Same Blue – From Blue Box

“Same Blue” is the anime opening for Blue Box. This OFFICIAL HIGE DANdism anime song was released digitally on October 2, 2024.

In his official comment, Satoshi Fujihara described being moved by the “vivid colors of youth” in the series and was struck by the way these emotions seem to “dye one’s heart.”

The concept of “shared blueness” became central to the track, representing the common emotional drive behind the character’s love and dedication to sports. This “blueness” also existed within him, as he wrote this song.

Fujihara also explained that as people experience different challenges, these emotions evolve, becoming clearer or clouded over time. He believes these feelings are overflowing in this song.

SOULSOUP – From SPY x FAMILY CODE: White

Released digitally on December 13, 2023, “SOULSOUP” is the theme song for the movie SPY x FAMILY CODE: White.

In their official comment, the band shared that an extraordinary amount of energy was poured into this song—deemed “the most in HigeDan’s history.” While imagining the Forger family’s dynamic action on screen, Fujihara sought to create a track that would inspire him personally.

At the time of the song’s release, Fujihara had recently returned from a medical hiatus. In a behind-the-scenes video, he shares that, in the uncertainty of whether he would recover, his daily hardships and determination to return shaped the song’s lyrics.

Yet, “SOULSOUP” is not just about hardship; rather, it is also about the strength that emerges after overcoming it. This personal battle became the foundation for the song, shaping its themes of resilience.

White Noise – From Tokyo Revengers

Released digitally on January 11, 2023, “White Noise” (ホワイトノイズ) is the opening theme for both the second season (Christmas Showdown Arc) and the third season (Tenjiku Arc) of Tokyo Revengers.

This OFFICIAL HIGE DANdism anime song has an interesting backstory, as it was originally composed over ten years ago. In their behind-the-scenes video, Fujihara revealed that the song was created when the band was experimenting with progressive rock. Although the melody was written early on, it wasn’t until working on Tokyo Revengers that the right inspiration came to finish the lyrics.

In “White Noise,” the band hopes to capture a “straightforward, unwavering strength” when moving forward or helping others, as seen in the characters themselves.

Mixed Nuts – From SPY × FAMILY

“Mixed Nuts” is the first opening theme song for season one of SPY × FAMILY. This OFFICIAL HIGE DANdism song was released digitally on April 15, 2022, as part of the hit anime adaptation of the popular manga series.

The title of this OFFICIAL HIGE DANdism Anime Song is inspired by Anya’s love for peanuts—and, by a moment when Fujihara realized that the mixed nuts he enjoyed also contained peanuts. After looking it up, he discovered that, while peanuts look like nuts, they’re classified differently because they grow underground, unlike tree nuts that grow above ground.

This insight connected to SPY × FAMILY’s core theme, where each character hides their true identity, all while navigating challenges like a real family. Reflecting on this, the band shared in their official comment, that what matters isn’t whether things are real, but “the happiness and joy” they bring to one’s life.

Universe – From Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021

Digitally released on January 9, 2021, “Universe” by OFFICIAL HIGE DANdism is the theme song for Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021, or the 41st Doraemon film.

In his official comment, Fujihara expressed how much this opportunity meant to him, as he has been a fan of Doraemon since childhood.

He explained that “Universe” reflects his lifelong search for meaning and self-understanding since he was a child. It’s a process that remains ongoing, as he adds, “Even now, the answer remains unknown.”

In creating the song, Fujihara felt as if he reconnected with his younger self, becoming fully absorbed in the creative process—just like he did when he used to play until sunset.

Cry Baby – From Tokyo Revengers

“Cry Baby” is the opening theme for the first season of Tokyo Revengers. Released digitally on May 7, 2021, this OFFICIAL HIGE DANdism anime song is one of their most streamed songs on Spotify.

One of the song’s standout elements is its frequent changes in key, a nod to the anime’s time-leaping storyline. In an interview, Fujihara recounted how an accidental shift to a minor chord while playing the piano led to an unexpected but exciting direction for the piece. He shares in an interview, “I saw it as a gift from the music gods,” deciding to keep it. The constant key shifting cleverly mirrors the main character Takemichi’s journey between the past and present.

Fujihara shared how “Cry Baby” pushed the band to the next level, noting that the collaboration “opened a new door for the band that might not have been opened.”

Yesterday – From HELLO WORLD

Released on September 11, 2019, “Yesterday” (イエスタデイ) was the theme song for the animated movie HELLO WORLD. This OFFICIAL HIGE DANdism anime song is part of 2027Sound, an experimental project that brought together various artists to craft a unique soundtrack for the film.

In their official comment, the band shared how they immediately fell in love with the world of HELLO WORLD. They aimed to express both the strength of a heart that cares deeply for others and the hidden struggles behind it, with “a beautiful melody” carrying the emotion throughout.

FIRE GROUND – From Hinomaru Sumo

“FIRE GROUND” is the first anime opening for Hinomaru Sumo. This OFFICIAL HIGE DANdism anime song was digitally released on October 1, 2018.

In an interview, Fujihara explained how the high-energy sport of sumo influenced his songwriting approach. When crafting the song, he thought of “flames, heat, youthfulness, and the intensity of competition,” adding that the band ultimately chose a hard rock style to capture the spirit of the sport.

“FIRE GROUND” marks Higedan’s first anime song for a full-length TV series.
