Every SID Anime Song

This article explores every SID anime song featured in a TV series or movie.

Shokuzai – From Black Butler: Public School Arc

“Shokuzai” (贖罪) is the ending theme for Black Butler: Public School Arc, the fourth season of the Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji). Released on May 29, 2024, the SID anime song marks the band’s fourth collaboration with the series.

In an official comment, Mao shared that he focused on “building the melody, lyrics, and arrangement” with the show’s worldview and new storyline.

He adds that the band “aimed to create a song that is uniquely Black Butler [and] uniquely SID.”

Omokage – From Heaven Official’s Blessing

“Omokage” (面影) is the opening theme for the second season of the Japanese-dubbed version of Heaven Official’s Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu). Released on March 20, 2024, this song marks SID’s second collaboration with the donghua.

In the band’s official comment, Mao explained that the theme of “Omokage” centers on “eternal love that transcends distance and time.” He emphasized that “the song fits perfectly with the worldview of Heaven Official’s Blessing.”

Jiyu no Kuchizuke – From Heaven Official’s Blessing

“Jiyu no Kuchizuke” (慈雨のくちづけ) is the opening theme for the Japanese-dubbed first season of Heaven Official’s Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu). This SID anime song was released on July 18, 2021.

In an official comment, vocalist Mao shared that the song title captures the essence of Heaven Official’s Blessing: its “hidden feelings, reunions, and the gentle, embracing kiss of merciful rain.”

delete – From The Seven Deadly Sins: Imperial Wrath of The Gods

“delete” is the second opening theme for The Seven Deadly Sins: Imperial Wrath of The Gods, the third season of the anime series. This SID anime song was released on March 4, 2020.

In their official comment, SID explained that “delete” is a message to those who wish to “erase their past or present.”

With this song, SID hopes to express the resilience of the people who, despite their burdens, “continue to live with strength”

Rasen no Yume – From Altair: A Record of Battles

“Rasen no Yume” (螺旋のユメ, also known as “Rasenno Yume”) is the first opening theme song for Altair: A Record of Battles. This SID anime song was released on August 2, 2017.

In the band’s official comment, Mao shared how SID approached the project by carefully reading the original manga before starting production. He explained that they aimed to create a “cool, fast-paced track that fits with the story.”

Garasu no Hitomi – From Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic

“Garasu no Hitomi,” (硝子の瞳, also known as “Glass no Hitomi”) is the theme song for the movie Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic. Released on January 18, 2017, the song marked SID’s first release following their 2016 hiatus and their third song for the Black Butler series.

In their official comment, Mao expressed their honor to be involved with Black Butler once again. He shared that the band approached creating the song and lyrics with “the intention of creating the world of Black Butler, more than ever before.”

ENAMEL – From Black Butler: Book of Circus

“ENAMEL” is the opening theme song for Black Butler: Book of Circus, or the third season of the Black Butler. Released on August 27, 2014, this SID anime song is their second contribution to the popular series.

In their official comment, Mao expressed the band’s excitement to be part of the Black Butler world once again. For the “Circus Arc,” he revisited the original manga to ensure the song was “even more suitable for Black Butler.”

ANNIVERSARY – From Magi: The Kingdom of Magic

“ANNIVERSARY” is the first opening theme song for Magi: The Kingdom of Magic, or the second season of the Magi series. This SID anime song, which was released on November 6, 2013, is also for the band’s ten-year anniversary.

In the band’s official comment, Mao expressed how Magi’s adventurous story resonated with SID’s decade-long journey.

He explains, “With Aladdin and others embarking on new adventures, and SID moving forward beyond their 10th anniversary, I wanted to find a way to connect the feelings of both.”

V.I.P – From Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

“V.I.P” is the first opening theme song for season one of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. This SID anime song was released on November 21, 2012.

In an interview, Aki described creating “V.I.P” as both challenging and “a great learning experience.”

While songwriting, he studied the Arabic scale and arranged with instruments uncommonly used in rock bands—such as the sitar, glockenspiel, and xylophone—to create its signature sound.

Ranbu no Melody – From BLEACH

“Ranbu no Melody” (乱舞のメロディ) by SID is the 13th opening theme for BLEACH. Released on December 1, 2010, this SID anime song became a global hit and remains the band’s most streamed track on Spotify.

Musically, the song delivers a rough yet controlled sound. In an interview, Shinji mentioned that “many of SID’s songs have precise guitar playing,” but for this song, they opted for a more raw, “one-take recording style” to create a wild feel.

The popularity of “Ranbu no Melody” is undeniable, even ranking first in a 2021 BLEACH opening theme popularity poll.

Masakazu Morita, the Japanese voice actor for Ichigo Kurosaki, performed a cover of the track for SID’s 20th-anniversary tribute album.

“Ranbu no Melody” has become a memorable part of BLEACH’s musical legacy, still resonating over a decade later.

Rain  – From Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

“Rain” (レイン) is the fifth opening theme song for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. This SID anime song was released on June 2, 2010.

Mao spoke about this continued partnership following their prior hit, “Uso,” in the band’s official comment. He comments, “I hope that ‘Rain’ will be loved by everyone, just like the anime.”

Uso – From Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

“Uso” (嘘) is the first ending theme song for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Released on April 29, 2009, this SID anime song brought attention to the band on a larger scale.

In a later interview, Yuuya reflected on the unexpected success of “Uso”; until then, most songs he composed remained unreleased or as B-sides, but “Uso” had changed that.

He compared the success to “suddenly hitting a home run” when he had never had a hit before. While unexpected, it allowed SID to see a broader view of what their music could achieve.

Monokuro No Kiss – From Black Butler

“Monokuro No Kiss“ (モノクロのキス, also known as “Monochrome No Kiss”) is the opening theme song for the first season of Black Butler. Released on October 29, 2008, this SID anime song marked the band’s major record label debut.

In their official comment, Mao shared his excitement about the collaboration, saying he became a fan of the series after reading the original manga.

He remarked that the timing of SID’s debut with Black Butler’s anime adaptation felt like fate, adding, “I can’t wait for the day I can see Sebastian and Ciel moving in color.”

“Monokuro No Kiss“ is SID’s first contribution to an anime series.
