UN-APEX – From Solo Leveling

“UN-APEX” is the ending theme for Solo Leveling Season 2. This TK anime song was released on January 5, 2025.

In his official comment, TK introduced himself as an “E-rank hunter.” Following his work composing the season 1 ED, “request” by krage, he shared that he is now in charge of his own project.

In “UN-APEX,” TK aimed to express how “the more the passion burns, the greater ruthlessness grows.” He promised to deliver “a super S-Rank song from the absolute lowest point in history.”

Tagatame – From My Hero Academia

Digitally released on May 4, 2024, “Tagatame” (誰が為) is the first opening theme for My Hero Academia Season 7.

In his official comment, TK contemplated how to create something meaningful for the series, despite feeling “so far from being a hero” himself. The song’s theme was born when TK saw a soap bubble float by, reflecting vivid rainbow colors before disappearing on the concrete.

“While being robbed, while even obtaining pain, this battle continues. Is it for myself, or someone else?” he writes. TK hopes “Tagatame” can reflect “the radiance that shines in a worn-out world.”

first death – From Chainsaw Man

“first death” is the ending theme for episode 8 of Chainsaw Man. Digitally released on November 30, this TK anime song is included in a star-studded lineup of the season’s ending themes, including Vaundy, Eve, Aimer, ZUTOMAYO, and more.

In his official comment, TK described creating “an everlasting perfect organ” from the “blood oozing from the story and drawings.” He shared, “I will gather the chainsaws residing within me and dedicate all my killing power to this work.”

“I believed I could express the devastating beauty of Chainsaw Man if I faced it sincerely.”

In an interview about his songwriting process for “first death”, TK explained how he tried to capture “the dramatic sense of speed that pours out of each page” of the manga. will-ill – From Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

“will-ill” is the first ending theme for the 15th anniversary TV broadcast of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. This TK from Ling tosite sigure anime song was released on October 13, 2021.

In a media comment, TK congratulates the series on its 15-year legacy. “I am deeply honored to breathe new life into such an enduring masterpiece of an anime,” he shares. 

TK described watching all its stages and “drowning in its charm” while imagining what he could compose through his music. He aims to bring color to “the intricate yet bold story and its beauty,” while also “adding a touch of despair.”

Chou No Tobu Suisou – From Pet

Digitally released on January 7, 2020, “Chou No Tobu Suisou” (蝶の飛ぶ水槽) is the opening theme song for Pet.

TK revealed that he read the manga many times in his official comment, describing the original work as “a story that feels like being in a dream.”

In an interview, TK shared how he consciously focused on creating this song “from a truly deep place” within. Diving deep into his mind, TK likened his songwriting process to solving an “accidental puzzle,” with moments when everything falls into place.

katharsis – From Tokyo Ghoul:re

“katharsis” is the second opening theme for Tokyo Ghoul:re, often referred to as the third season of the series. This TK anime song was released on November 21, 2018.

In his official comment, TK expressed that his music was able to resonate more deeply through this extraordinary story. He writes, “I hope that the world created by this combination becomes the ultimate one.” 

TK also conveyed gratitude to Sui Ishida, the manga’s creator, saying it was an honor to collaborate behind the scenes. Tokyo Ghoul is “colored with so many wonderful sounds,” and he pledged to “put everything I’ve got” into the final opener. 

Signal – From 91 Days

“Signal” is the opening theme for 91 Days and was released on September 7, 2016.

TK explored the theme of revenge, describing the sepia-toned depiction of the Prohibition era as “a movie without gimmicks” in his official comment. He shared that reading each scenario was a constant thrill, “like a knife held to your neck.”

TK writes, “The reasons to kill, the reasons not to kill, are chopped into pieces and trapped in the music.” He concludes, “Surely, you will not be able to take your eyes off this spiral.”

Fantastic Magic – From Ninja Slayer From Animation

Released on August 27, 2014, “Fantastic Magic” is later featured in episode 15 of the 2015 net series, Ninja Slayer From Animation.

TK explained in an interview that the song’s title came from “an abstract image of ‘Magic’ in its highest form. As the title track of his second album, he shared, “I wanted people who listen to my music to feel like they’ve been put under a spell.”

The net animation series, later adapted into a TV series, features a different artist for each ending.

unravel(acoustic version) – From Tokyo Ghoul √A

Digitally released on May 20, 2015, the acoustic version of “unravel” is used as an insert song in the final episode of Tokyo Ghoul √A, the second season of the series. 

In an official comment, manga creator Sui Ishida called the acoustic version “a very luxurious song,” complementing his favorite scene in the anime: “Kaneki simply walking.” 

Animation director Shuhei Morita offered more context on this scene, as he initially grappled with conveying the “layered, complex emotions that couldn’t be conveyed through dialogue.” By choosing the theme of “a walk,” Morita aimed for long-time viewers to truly “feel the protagonist Kaneki’s inner heart.”

unravel – From Tokyo Ghoul

“unravel” is the opening theme song for Tokyo Ghoul’s first season. TK received the opportunity directly from Tokyo Ghoul’s manga artist, Sui Ishida, to compose the OP for the series. Released on July 23, 2014, this TK anime song became an international hit. 

“I was unable to escape the feeling of seeing the truth within an illusion.”

In a media comment, TK described “unravel” as his way of portraying the “madness, and reflected in its transient shadow, ‘life.’”He writes, “Just as I was unable to escape the feeling of seeing the truth within an illusion, I hope even more people will experience this world.”

Over a decade later, “unravel” continues to be TK’s most-streamed song globally.
