Who is Eve?
Eve is a Japanese singer, songwriter, and Vocaloid producer. He started his music journey as an “utaite,” (歌い手), a term for singers who share cover songs on Niconico, and eventually started releasing his original works on the platform. In 2016, he released his first nationwide distributed album, “OFFICIAL NUMBER.”
Internationally, Eve has gained popularity through his hit anime songs, which have gained hundreds of billions of streams around the world. Outside of music, he is the creator of the manga Kara no Kioku (虚の記憶) and the co-writer of the novel How to Eat Life (いのちの食べ方).
Much of Eve’s personal information remains publicly unknown.
Hanaboshi – From Make a Girl
“Hanaboshi” (花星) is the theme song for the animated movie Make a Girl. This Eve anime song was released on November 27, 2024.
In his official comment, Eve states that he wrote “Hanaboshi” at the end of his tour. “Various thoughts began to sprout up within me, and this song was born,” he shares.
Eve explains how the song reflects the shifts in perspective of connecting with others, and the importance of facing the reality of “now”—which is not to be taken for granted.
While instilling this song with prayers and wishes, Eve states, “I wish for ‘Hanaboshi’ to reach distant places.”
Teenage Blue – From Blue Box
“Teenage Blue” (ティーンエイジブルー) is the ending song for Blue Box. This Eve anime song was digitally released on October 4, 2024.
In his official comment, Eve reflected on how Blue Box brought back memories of his youth—from being fully absorbed in the moment to cherishing the ordinary days. “Before we knew it, we had become adults,” he shares.
While no longer a teenager, Eve expressed how “Teenage Blue” allowed him to pack in all of the things that only his now-adult self could convey.
Sweet Memory – From SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary
“Sweet Memory” (スイートメモリー) is the anime opening for the SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary. This Eve anime song was released on July 7, 2024.
In his official comment, Eve expressed joy in using music to “color the everyday life of the two characters spending calm days” this summer. He encourages fans to enjoy the song “with some sweets.”
This anime adaptation is from the Shunki Gentei Ichigo Tart Jiken and Kaki Gentei Tropical Parfait Jiken manga series, originating from the first and second novels of the Shoushimin Series.
Bokurano – From My Hero Academia
“Bokurano” serves as the opening song for part 2 of the sixth season of My Hero Academia.
In his official comment, Eve shared that “Bokurano” was created to uplift the exhausted heroes and overcome their challenges together. This Eve anime song was digitally released in January 2023, with an EP release two months later.
Fight Song – From Chainsaw Man
“Fight Song“ (ファイトソング) is the twelfth and final ending theme song for the first season of the Chainsaw Man TV anime series. This song is part of the TV anime series’ star-studded discography; the hit anime includes an opening theme song by Kenshi Yonezu, as well as a different ending theme song for each episode–with tracks from Vaundy, Queen Bee, Aimer, Zutomayo, and other incredible artists.

In his official comment, Eve shares that his “heart was dancing” with excitement when he heard the news of an anime adaptation, and how honored he feels to be a part of the Chainsaw Man anime. This Eve anime song was released in December 2022.
Bubble feat.Uta – From Bubble
“Bubble feat.Uta” is the theme song for the animated movie Bubble. In this science fiction story inspired by The Little Mermaid, a post-apocalyptic Tokyo is plagued by hazardous bubbles. Parkour prodigy Hibiki is rescued by Uta, a mysterious girl with special powers.
The song features the film’s heroine, Uta, voiced by the Japanese winger-songwriter riria. (りりあ。). “Bubble feat.Uta” was released in April 2022.
Ao No Waltz – From Josee, the Tiger and the Fish
“Ao No Waltz” (蒼のワルツ) is the theme song for the animated movie Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. Based on Seiko Tanabe’s 1984 short story of the same name, the film follows college student Tsuneo Suzukawa as he meets Josee, a young woman with a lifelong disability who spends most of her time at her grandmother’s home.
In creating this song, Eve shared that he searched for his commonalities with the shy and clumsy Josee. This Eve anime song was released in December 2020.
Shinkai – From Josee, the Tiger and the Fish
In addition to the theme song, Eve provided the insert song for the movie; “Shinkai” (心海) was also released in December 2020. These two Eve anime songs mark his first contribution to a full-length animated feature film.
Reflecting on the experience, he recalls the initial moment when he laid eyes on the director’s storyboard. The characters appeared poised to move around into existence, and the visuals seemed to leap out at him, leaving him profoundly moved by their delicacy and beauty.
Kaikai Kitan – From Jujutsu Kaisen
“Kaikai Kitan” (廻廻奇譚) is the first opening theme for season one of the hit series, Jujutsu Kaisen. Released in October of 2020, this Eve anime song went viral around the world, topping the Oricon Music Rankings and becoming the most-played Japanese song overseas on Spotify in 2021.
In his official comment, Eve expresses his excitement upon learning about the anime adaptation of a series he loved, as well as the emotional impact of being asked to perform the opening. He shares, “I’ve had many moments of contemplation by [protagonist] Itadori’s way of life and struggles, while he remains straightforwardly true to himself.” Eve aimed to create a song that would complement the energetic nature of the series.

Dark Night – From Dororo
“Dark Night”, also known as Yamiyo (闇夜), is the second anime opening song for Dororo. Released in June 2019, this is the first Eve anime song that was featured in a full animated TV series.
In his official comment, Eve shares his thoughts after reading the original manga work. He reflects on protagonist Hyakkimaru’s feelings, grappling with loneliness, the emergence of new emotions created from connections, and pondering “What’s most important in this cursed world of eat or be eaten.”
Ambivalent – From Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms
“Ambivalent” is the theme song for the 2018 pilot episode of Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms. The short web anime episode was a part of The Mecha-Ude Project, an original anime crowdfunding project spearheaded by the female anime creator Okamoto and her creative team TriF Studio, based in Fukuoka.
“Ambivalent” was released in February 2019. Eve also made a guest appearance in the episode, voicing the character Yoh Shirono.
While not a full series at the time, thanks to successful fundraising efforts, Mecha-Ude is now gearing up for its full TV anime release in 2024.
