Otonoke – From Dandadan
“Otonoke” (オトノケ) is the anime opening for Dandadan. This Creepy Nuts anime song was digitally released on October 4, 2024.
In their official comment, DJ Matsunaga shared his excitement, stating that the moment he feels most fulfilled in creating music is when he thinks, “I’ve made a song that doesn’t exist in this world.” He expresses, “‘Otonoke’ is exactly that! I’m glad we could create it!”
R-Shitei found inspiration in the anime’s portrayal of supernatural beings, drawing a parallel connection to his experience in the music world. He explains that the interpretation in this work, “where supernatural beings and spirits possess people and resonate with and connect to them through their pain and sadness,” is similar to his thoughts on the relationship between music creators and listeners.
According to the anime’s official website, “Otonoke” ties into the overwhelming and incomprehensible elements of the supernatural, helping bring the Dandadan world to life.
Bling-Bang-Bang-Born – From Mashle: Magic and Muscles
“Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” is the anime opening for season 2 of the series Mashle: Magic and Muscles. This incredibly popular Creepy Nuts anime song was released on January 7, 2024.
In their official comment, Creep Nuts commented that “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” is a phrase that they created, which is meant to be an energizing spell.
They mentioned that protagonist Mash, who is without magic in a magic-filled world, reminded them of their experience in hip-hop. The meaning of the song, they say, becomes clear with a closer look at the song’s lyrics. (Note: English-translated lyrics are available in the subtitles.)
Bling-Bang-Bang-Born’s Global Success
As one of the biggest anime openings of 2024, “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” became a massive global hit.
Within two weeks, the non-credit anime opening surpassed 10 million times on YouTube, with the dance performed by protagonist Mash sparking the viral #BBBBdance challenge on TikTok.
Following its digital release, the hit Creepy Nuts anime song quickly reached the top of Apple Music and Spotify‘s Japanese streaming charts and became #1 on iTunes’ hip-hop charts in over 10 countries.
The song’s momentum didn’t waver. “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” topped Spotify and Apple Music‘s year-end charts, becoming Japan’s most-streamed song of 2024 on both platforms. Its success was equally visible in its dominance of the Billboard JAPAN Year End rankings, placing #1 across a dozen charts—including Japan’s Hot 100.
Its popularity also extended internationally. On Spotify, it was the 2024’s most-streamed Japanese song among international listeners, while on Apple Music, it ranked #10 on the Global Top Songs of 2024. The song also topped Billboard JAPAN Global Japan Songs excl. Japan Year End chart for 2024, with an incredible 19-week streak at #1 in the weekly rankings.
Interestingly, as noted by Billboard JAPAN, the song’s popularity didn’t spread from Japan to overseas listeners. Rather, it went viral both domestically and internationally, at the same time.
Creepy Nuts’ performance on the popular YouTube channel, THE FIRST TAKE, became the fastest video in the channel’s history to reach 10 million views. Check it out above.
Daten – From Call of The Night
“Daten” (堕天) is the anime opening for season one of the TV anime series Call of The Night. The Creepy Nuts anime song was released on September 6, 2022.
In their official comment, the duo expresses a deep connection to the night as a time of freedom and authenticity, contrasting with the restrictions felt in the presence of the sun.
They praise the original work for capturing this essence, describing it as “the night itself.” They share that the manga makes one wish that “dawn does not break on this page. We want to create songs like that too.”
Losstime – From Call of The Night
“Losstime” (ロスタイム) is an insert song from season one of Call of The Night. Released on September 7, 2022, this Creepy Nuts anime song was revealed in episode two of the series.
On the anime’s official website, Director Tomoyuki Itamura explained that he wanted the song to convey the “feeling of floating” as Nazuna and Kou fly through the sky. He envisioned a sound accompanying Kou’s mix of uncertainty and exhilaration in the “bottomlessness of the night” and “endless expanse of the city.”
Creepy Nuts encourages you to enjoy the “scenes that naturally come to mind from the lyrics and track“—and entrust yourself to the good feelings it brings.
Stayin’ up Lullaby – From Call of The Night
”Stayin’ up Lullaby” (よふかしのうた) is the anime ending for season one of Call of The Night. Unlike many anime tie-ups, where a song is created for the animated work, this song has a different story.
Interestingly, the original work for Call of The Night, otherwise known as Yofukashi No Uta (よふかしのうた) in Japanese, was named by the manga creator Kotoyama (コトヤマ), after the Creepy Nuts song of the same name. The song was originally released on December 12, 2018.
For the anime adaptation, they decided to use this song that inspired the manga’s title, as the anime ending theme song. Check out the non-credit anime ending above.
