“Harebare!” is the opening theme song for the anime adaptation of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin. This Ikimonogakari song was pre-released digitally on July 6, 2024.

Drawing on the imagery of rice stalks swaying under a bright sky, Ikimonogakari’s comment conveys the resilience of living with “strength and weakness mixed together.” Through this song, they hope to support the lively protagonist Sakuna, with a strong melody that feels “like life is sprouting.” 

Unmeichan – From Mission: Yozakura Family

Also Spelled: Unmei chan, Unmei-chan

“Unmeichan” (運命ちゃん) is the first opening theme for Mission: Yozakura Family. This Ikimonogakari anime song was digitally released on April 7, 2024.

In their comment, the band has expressed excitement at standing on the “starting line” of the anime. Known for being far from ordinary, the Yozakura family inspired an equally unmatched track. With “brightness, intensity, and coolness,” Ikimonogakari encourages viewers to “jump into destiny” alongside the Yokazuras. 

Ureshikute – From PreCure All Stars F

“Ureshikute” (うれしくて) is the theme song for the animated film, PreCure All Stars F

In the band’s comment, Mizuno expressed his hope to infuse the song with the radiance that PreCure represents, seeing it as a “ray of hope” for its fans. Yoshioka remarked that singing the song felt uplifting, as it aligns with the film’s message of mutual recognition and support between individuals.

With “bold yet delicate” lyrics, “Ureshikute” evokes the expansive and colorful world of PreCure.

Tokimeki – From Power of Hope ~PreCure Full Bloom

Released digitally on September 13, 2023, “Tokimeki,” (ときめき) is the opening theme for Power of Hope ~PreCure Full Bloom (also known as Kibo no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure ’23). 

In Ikimonogakari’s comment, Mizuno expressed how honored he felt to contribute to a beloved series with a 20-year history. He wanted “Tokimeki” to be a song that would act as a “tailwind” for both the characters of PreCure and the fans who support them, encouraging them to enjoy the world in front of them. Yoshioka added that the song’s uplifting lyrics made her feel a surge of energy and power, moving her to tears during recording. 

TSUZUKU – From The Crocodile That Lived For 100 Days

Released on March 22, 2021, “TSUZUKU” is the theme song for The Crocodile That Lived For 100 Days. This Ikimonogakari anime song captures the weight of moving forward amidst grief, a fitting track for the movie adaptation of this self-published Twitter series

In his official comment, Mizuno shares how “tsuzuku” (to continue) conveys the “will to continue,” expressing both the difficulty and preciousness of somehow carrying on after loss. “While knowing the sadness of parting, we must still face tomorrow,” he comments. Mizuno hopes this song reaches someone fighting to live “their own present.”

BAKU – From Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Released on January 18, 2021, “BAKU” is the eighth opening theme song for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

In an interview, Mizuno explained that they aimed to capture the intensity of the story’s developments, weaving in a sense of urgency to reflect Boruto’s ongoing challenges. He also reflected on the band’s 12-year return to the series and their personal growth–noting how he became a father, just like Naruto.

This Ikimonogakari anime song marks their third contribution to the Naruto franchise, following hits “Blue Bird” and “Hotaru no Hikari.” The band’s comment states, “This third, fortunate collision will be intense and incredible.”

Netsujou No Spectrum – From The Seven Deadly Sins

Also Spelled: Netsujo no Spectrum, Netsujō no Spectrum

Released on October 15, 2014, “Netsujou No Spectrum” (熱情のスペクトラム) is the first opening theme for The Seven Deadly Sins

In the band’s official comment, Mizuno expressed how “each of the main characters is lovable, cool, and full of personality.” The band aimed to create “a dynamic, powerful song” that resonates with the characters and complements their journey throughout the story.

Egao – From Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened

“Egao” (笑顔) is the theme song for Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened, the 16th film in the Pokémon franchise. This Ikimonogakari anime song was released on July 10, 2013.

Yoshioka explained that “Egao” is a song meant to be enjoyed not only by children, but also by their parents. In addition to singing the theme song, Yoshioka also took on the guest role of Eevee in the film, making her debut as a voice actress.

Haru Uta – From Detective Conan: The Eleventh Striker

Also Spelled: Haruuta

“Haru Uta” (ハルウタ) is the theme song for Detective Conan: The Eleventh Striker. Released on April 25, 2012, this Ikimonogakari anime song is used in the 16th film in the Detective Conan franchise. 

In an interview, former member and song composer Hotaka Yamashita shared that he used “blue” as the theme color for the song, drawing from the youthful, soccer-based storyline of the movie. The lyric “someday we’ll become adults” (いつか僕ら大人になる) was especially inspired by his image of Conan. 

Hotaru no Hikari – From Naruto Shippuden

Also Spelled: Hotarunohikari 

“Hotaru no Hikari” (ホタルノヒカリ), released on July 15, 2009, is the fifth opening theme for Naruto Shippuden

In an interview, Mizuno expressed his happiness to collaborate with Naruto for two years in a row. While composing the song, he kept certain themes in mind, such as the sense of speed and the traditional Japanese atmosphere, to “link to the worldview of Naruto.” Mizuno recalled a memorable experience filming the music video, laughing that while many insects gathered around the lights, the “fireflies” (hotaru) did not make an appearance.

Blue Bird – From Naruto Shippuden

Released on July 9, 2008, “Blue Bird” (ブルーバード) is the third opening theme for Naruto Shippuden. This iconic Ikimonogakari track has become one of the band’s most globally recognized songs, and it remains their highest-streamed track on Spotify.

In an interview, Mizuno shared that the band, which was previously known for its ballads, embraced the chance to create an “aggressive, ephemeral song” for Naruto. Yoshioka added that they were excited to take on a track with “a sense of speed,” allowing them to showcase a different side of their band.

“Blue Bird” continues to be a staple in Ikimonogakari’s live performances. “This song was born because of Naruto,” Yoshioka reflects, calling it a “very important song for us.”

Seishun Line – From Big Windup!

“Seishun Line” (青春ライン) is the second opening theme for Big Windup!, also known as Ookiku Furikabutte. This Ikimonogakari anime song was released on August 8, 2007.

“Seishun Line” is described as a “melancholic yet powerful” summer pop anthem, with lyrics that are “overflowing with feelings of youth.” 

A fun fact: it was Yoshioka’s vocals in this song that inspired Haruko Nagaya, the lead singer of the popular Ryokuoushoku Shakai, to form their band!

Ryusei Miracle – From Ghost Slayers Ayashi

Released on December 6, 2006, “Ryusei Miracle” (流星ミラクル) is the opening theme song for the anime Ghost Slayers Ayashi.  

The lyrics, paired with Kiyoe Yoshioka’s soaring vocals, contain empowering messages about “self-belief, moving forward, and making miracles”—a perfect fit for the adventurous spirit of Ghost Slayers Ayashi. This Ikimonogakari anime song is said to be “perfect for the winter night sky.”

HANABI – From BLEACH

“HANABI” is the seventh ending theme for BLEACH. Released on May 31, 2006, the track marks Ikimonogakari’s first contribution to an anime series. 

Written in minor key, this Ikimonogakari anime song is described as blending “strength and fragility” within a traditional Japanese melody. Following the success of their debut hit “SAKURA,” this collaboration with the long-running series grew the band’s name recognition nationwide.
