SCOPE – From Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective
“SCOPE” is the opener for the anime adaptation of Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective. This Aimer anime song was released on January 8, 2025.
In her official comment, Aimer shared how she was engrossed in Mikito Chinen’s original novel while crafting this song. She was inspired by the protagonist Takao Ameku, whose “outstanding intellect and insatiable curiosity,” combined with her ability to “solve difficult cases without being bound by common sense,” shaped the track’s direction.
Aimer created “SCOPE” as a song that would “symbolize [Ameku] herself,” hoping to boost the appeal of both the character and the series.
Sign – From Spice and Wolf: MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF
“Sign” is the second anime opening for Spice and Wolf: MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF. Digitally released on July 8, 2024, this Aimer anime song is used for the latest anime adaptation, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Spice and Wolf light novel series.
In her official comment, Aimer revealed that this was her first time composing an opening song with a warm and gentle tone. She aimed to capture the connection between the two protagonists while “shining a light on the sadness that accompanies the story.” She hopes “Sign” is a gentle send-off to their long journey ahead.
Atemonaku – From Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage
Released on April 21, 2023, “Atemonaku” (あてもなく) is the anime ending for the movie Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage.
In her official comment, Aimer shared her intention to create a song that stays by the side of all of the characters, who are “rich in personality” and “filled with love.” For listeners, she wishes “Atemonaku” will be “a song that can become your ally, no matter the situation.”
escalate – From NieR: Automata Ver1.1a
“escalate” is the first opening theme of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a. This Aimer anime song was digitally released on January 8, 2023.
In her official comment, Aimer shared that her goal for “escalate” was to reflect the characters’ pain and despair, while also delivering a “beautiful and grandiose” piece that sets the tone for each episode. She expressed her hope that the song would become “a companion to your heart” as you immerse yourself in the world of the NieR: Automata series.
Deep down – From Chainsaw Man
Released on December 7, 2022, “Deep down” is the anime ending for episode 9 of Chainsaw Man.
Aimer shared her songwriting process in her official comment, explaining how she “expanded on the inspiration received from the original work” by adding her emotions. In an interview, she described the episode as “suddenly plunging into deep muddy waters,” and expressed her gratitude—adding, “I was very honored that they thought I was the right person for the role.”

Asa ga kuru – From Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Released on January 12, 2022, “Asa ga kuru” (朝が来る) is the second ending theme for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2. This Aimer anime song is featured in the series’ Entertainment District arc.
In her official comment, Aimer expressed her excitement about contributing to both the anime opening (mentioned below) and ending for the hit series. While speaking to the “the night streets swirling with love and hatred” in the entertainment district, she expressed her hope to “add even a bit of vibrant color” to the increasingly intense storyline.
Zankyosanka – From Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
“Zankyosanka” (残響散歌) is the second opening theme for season 2 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Digitally released on December 6, 2021, this Aimer anime song is featured in the Entertainment District arc.
In an interview, Aimer revealed her intention to create a theme song that “retains the brilliance symbolizing the work,” aiming for “Zankyosanka” to be a piece that “empathizes with every single character’s struggles and resolve.” This vision has resonated widely—as seen through the song’s massive popularity worldwide.

Zankyosanka’s Global Success
The global success of “Zankyosanka” has been remarkable. In Japan, the song soared to #1 on both the Oricon Singles Chart and the Billboard JAPAN Hot 100—also topping Billboard JAPAN’s 2022 year-end Hot 100. In May 2023, it earned a Triple Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for 300 million streams; by November of that year, the track had surpassed 400 million streams on the Billboard JAPAN charts.
Internationally, “Zankyosanka” was a major hit. The Aimer anime song topped 23 overseas music charts, leading the J-POP category on platforms like iTunes and Apple Music. With over 200 million streams worldwide, it remains Aimer’s most streamed song on Spotify.
Reflecting on the song’s success, Aimer shared in an interview that “Zankyosanka” was created with the team she has worked with since her debut. cold rain – From Mo Dao Zu Shi
“cold rain” is the ending theme for the second season of The Founder of Diabolism, also known as the Xian Yun Pian arc of Mo Dao Zu Shi. Released on April 14, 2021, through her album Walpurgis, this Aimer anime song accompanies the adaptation of the popular Chinese web novel.
In her media comment, Aimer expressed her hope that the song would make listeners even more captivated by the story’s lingering impact. She shares, “When loneliness strikes, may this song quietly and powerfully be your ally.”
kiro – From Mo Dao Zu Shi
Before ”cold rain”, Aimer contributed to the series with “kiro” (季路), the ending theme for the Qian Chen Pian arc of Mo Dao Zu Shi, or the first season of The Founder of Diabolism. This Aimer anime song was released digitally on January 11, 2021.
In her official comment, Aimer expressed her honor at contributing to a series that is so widely loved across Asia. She created the ending theme to resonate with the two main characters while wishing it would “touch the hearts of each and every one of you living in the present.”
